The United Nations

Hello,
As a part of my global issues class and the MUN group, I would like to talk about the UN's role of maintaining general peace worldwide. Peace can be defined as the opposite of conflict and also as a situation where all sides and views are satisfied and respected. As you can imagine, with so many people and views in the world, it would be a very challenging task to create peace as well as, maintain it over a long period of time. This near impossible task is one taken by the UN's Security Council. The country representatives for the Security Council work together to produce agreements that will hopefully reduce conflict and eventually achieve general world peace. The phrase "World Peace" may seem a bit optimistic because it means that all views have to be satisfied, however, it may be possible. Do you think that "World Peace" is possible? If not, how close can we get to that goal? Comment and tell me what you think.
