Elements of peace in my life

Hello,
As a part of my Global Issues class I am talking about if peace exists in my own life today. Peace can be described as the absence of war and violence. However, I believe that peace is not just defined as an absence of violence in conflict. I think that peace would need to be a situation where there is no conflict at all. This is because violence is just the elevated form of pre-existing conflict. and in order for peace to exist, there must be 0 conflict whatsoever.

So I guess, no I don't think that absolute peace as I described would exist in my life. However, I think that there will always be conflict in everyone's lives; no matter how big or small. And conflict is not always a bad thing, usually over the long term the issue gets resolved and the situation is much better than it ever was before. That is one way that humans as a culture advance and improve.

Thanks, Tell me what you think.   \/  \/

The United Nations

Hello,
As a part of my global issues class and the MUN group, I would like to talk about the UN's role of maintaining general peace worldwide. Peace can be defined as the opposite of conflict and also as a situation where all sides and views are satisfied and respected. As you can imagine, with so many people and views in the world, it would be a very challenging task to create peace as well as, maintain it over a long period of time. This near impossible task is one taken by the UN's Security Council. The country representatives for the Security Council work together to produce agreements that will hopefully reduce conflict and eventually achieve general world peace. The phrase "World Peace" may seem a bit optimistic because it means that all views have to be satisfied, however, it may be possible. Do you think that "World Peace" is possible? If not, how close can we get to that goal? Comment and tell me what you think.

How to promote recycling

Hello,
Tristan and I have come up with a great way to get people to recycle. Everyone likes showing off their skills and a lot of people enjoy Basketball. So, if your combine Basketball with recycling it may work. Wouldn't you like to shoot your plastic bottle through a hoop and then into the can, instead of just dropping it in the boring way. Like this other idea for laundry...

Tip #3

Hello,
This tip is about awareness of what you can recycle and cannot recycle. Did you know that you can recycle bateries? Bateries contain many dangerous chemecals and if not disposed of properly, can cause issues for the environment. So, you should do some research to find out if there is a place to recycle your used bateries near you...
